CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Online Bushwise Nature Site Guide Scholarship 2026

Are you passionate about the wild? Do you have the charisma and drive to become a world-class nature guide? The Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC), in partnership with Bushwise Field Guides, is offering a life-changing opportunity for 10 aspiring conservationists to kickstart their guiding careers.

The Opportunity

We are looking for 10 dedicated candidates to complete the Online Bushwise Nature Site Guide – Theory NQF 2 course.

Upon successful completion of the online theory component, two (2) exceptional students will be awarded full scholarships for the prestigious six-month Bushwise Professional Nature Guide Course, hosted on-site at the SAWC campus.

  • Online Training Period: 01 June – 03 July 2026

Are You the Right Fit?

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric) with a 60% average across all subjects.
  • Competency: Valid Foundational Learning Competency Certificate (FLC) in English Communication and Mathematics/Maths Literacy.
  • Language: High proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Driving Skills: Must have a valid driver’s license and at least six months of experience driving a manual vehicle.
  • Tech Savvy: Computer literate with access to a stable internet connection for the 12-week online course.
  • Character: We are looking for outgoing, honest, reliable, and self-motivated individuals with a genuine desire to work in nature guiding.

Please note: Applicants must have a clean criminal record and a positive service record from previous employers.

The Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a personal interview and assessment day at the SAWC campus on 28 May 2026. During this day, your knowledge, driving skills, computer literacy, and attitude will be evaluated.

Preference will be given to Ngirivane land claimants with legitimate file numbers.
