The Applied Learning & Research Department (ALRD) facilitates monitoring, evaluation, research, and application in all departments of the college.
Monitoring allows a department to collect information in a logical and robust way so that it can be properly evaluated. Research allows us to trial new techniques and or applications and or make changes to current methods and assess what impact these new or changed techniques have. Lastly, as a training institution, we are in the fortunate position to be able to teach students directly, and practically, from the lessons we learn during this process.
This strategy helps us achieve the college wide aim of making our teaching and curriculums applied and hands on, rather than theoretical, with a focus on real solutions to real issues faced by students and practitioners in their work. Our research also allows us to implement and demonstrate best practice throughout the disciplines addressed at the college and contribute to the body of knowledge on a range of subjects.
