PROGRAMMES

The Southern African Wildlife College offers organisations and or private businesses the opportunity to enrol their staff for training on any of the College’s courses provided they meet the selection criteria/enrolment requirements.

Course types

Higher Education

The Higher Education Programme includes one full qualification, the Advanced Certificate in Natural Resource Management: Transfrontier Conservation Management (NQF6) accredited with the Council on Higher Education. It is designed for those involved in operational positions within the nature conservation environment who will be moving into entry-level managerial or supervisory positions in their organisations.

Please note that this qualification is set to be replaced by a three-year Diploma in Applied Natural Resource Management. This is currently in the development and accreditation process.

The Diploma comprises eleven modules developed to address the critical skills needed within the sector.  These modules are; Conservation Technology / Biology / Social Ecology I & II / Sustainable Development I & II / Resource Protection / Conservation Business Administration I & II / Natural Resource Management I & II

The first two years of the Diploma will take students through the theory (online) and certain practical activities. The third year will comprise a very applied practical year which will see the students coming to the College to participate in conservation projects/longitudinal studies set up by subject matter experts. These projects/studies are aimed at addressing some of the most critical conservation challenges being faced today.

Occupational Qualifications

The Occupational Qualifications certificates and skill development programmes are designed to be occupationally relevant and are composed of various credits which can be used towards a nationally recognised qualification. 

Youth Access Courses

The College will continue to have a positive impact on the development of the youth in South Africa, opening doors for them through providing marketable skill sets in the context of conservation and the environment. 

Customised Conservation Courses

The Southern African Wildlife College customised Conservation Courses offer the opportunity for the exchange of dialogue around today’s most prevalent conservation issues experienced in Southern Africa. They aim to share understanding and experiences on the most contemporary conservation issues of today. 

Short Courses

The Southern African Wildlife College offers organisations,  private businesses, associations and individuals the opportunity to enrol their staff for training in any of our short courses on the basis of ten people attending as a minimum requirement.
