Partner Spotlight: Italtile’s Impact on Conservation Leaders

In every issue, we’ll be shining light on one of our partners. In this edition, we’re celebrating Italtile & Ceramic Foundation Trust’s impact on one of our learners.

Conscience Mkansi, hailing from Hluvukani Village, embodies the next generation of conservation changemakers. A former EcoSteward at Wild Impact and a 2024 EcoRanger certificate holder from the SAWC, Conscience has applied her training in wildlife management and ecotourism to foster community awareness of environmental issues. She is currently advancing her expertise through a Field Guides Association of South Africa (FGASA) National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 2 Field Guiding course at Greater Makalali Private Nature Reserve. Fueled by her passion for nature, Conscience aims to work with likeminded organisations before eventually founding a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to youth empowerment and sustainable practices.

The Italtile & Ceramic Foundation Trust’s generous bursary enabled Conscience to enrol in the SAWC’s Youth Access: Conservation Bridging Programme a pivotal stepping stone that provided both financial support and validation of her calling. This foundation, established by Italtile to invest in educational and community development programmes, has supported countless students pursuing skills in design, trade and environmental stewardship. Through its commitment to curbing educational barriers, Italtile & Ceramic Foundation Turst continues to build resilient communities and nurture leaders like Conscience.

Below, Conscience shares her heartfelt thanks and reflections on how this opportunity has shaped her career path in conservation.
