The last quarter has been incredibly busy for the Academic team. At this time of the year, we focus on the arrival of our higher education students and of course, staff development. In January, our Dog Master, Johan van Straaten, Altin Gysman and Ruan de Flamingh, our new Field Ranger training instructors successfully completed their assessor training. Our Academic team supported their learning and ran coaching sessions to help them attain this essential qualification.

With the new team up and running at the African Field Ranger Training Services department, they are on track to continuously deliver high-quality Field Ranger and Dog Handler training.

The Academic team and our colleagues from Higher Education, RISE, Community Development, our CEO and Applied Learning hosted a visit by the GreenMatterZA team, in which we discussed and workshopped various potential collaborations. The highlight of the day was a game drive, by Gawie Lindeque and later a relaxing evening at the bushpub, where many of the challenges in conservation education and leadership were discussed and potential solutions developed. Watch this space for future collaborations with GreenMatter.
