Biography

Sithembiso is a Reserve Manager at Thomas Baines Nature Reserve where he manages, leads and coordinates reserve operations to ensure that Annual Operation Plan targets are achieved. Sithembiso has developed an unwavering drive and commitment to effect change through relationship building and hard work. 

Sithembiso has demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills to his subordinates, therefore enhancing their workplace performance and the performance of the organisation as a whole. He brings to his position a well-established background of biodiversity conservation and personnel management. Prior taking a Reserve Manager position in 2017, Sithembiso was a Section Ranger focusing on implementation of law enforcement, stakeholder engagement, environmental education, maintenance and tourism. 

He moved from KwaZulu Natal where he spent four years in fighting alien plant invasion and working as a supervisor for Dusi-Umngeni Trust. Sithembiso then moved to Durban Green Corridor to work as Field Manager under eThekwini Municipality for two years, and he completed a year-long internship at Addo Elephant National Park where he gained exposure to conservation and natural resource management.

Sithembiso holds a BTech and diploma in Nature Conservation from the Mangosuthu University of Technology, and a diploma in Project Management from Varsity College.

He’s currently studying his BSc Honours in Environmental Management at the University of South Africa.
