As part of a FirstJob Internship programme, where the College hosts a number of interns across its various departments each year, it also helps facilitate the training and development of these interns. Included here is the Rise-preneurship training, which this year ran from 22-30 June and which was sponsored by the FirstJob programme.  

The FirstJob programme supports the interns in small business development and in so doing encourages them to participate in the Rise-preneurship programme. This year 50 interns were selected from various host organisations including the SAWC, where six interns participated under the facilitation of Linda Lubbe.   

The following interns from the College were selected:

  2. Nathashia Khosa SAWC RISE department : Business name: Best Beans 
  3. Boikarabelo mokgope SAWC Ranger camp.  : Business name: Moshmegan Clothing 
  4. Kurhula Ndhlovu SAWC Housekeeping department  : Business name: Peace Bakery 
  5. Fatima Vilankulu SAWC Housekeeping department  : Business name: Moroho Farm 
  6. Name: Gift Mdaka SAWC Maintenance department : Business name: Quik Fix Tyre Repair  

Congratulations to all interns on their hard work during the training, their presentations were amazing. Thanks to Duja Consultants, FNB Acornhoek and the SAWC staff the trade fair held at the SAWC was a success.  

The following interns were the prize winners for the best business ideas out of the 50 interns: 

First Prize: Mavhungu Hulisani – LIMA 

Second Prize: Clement Nkhumeleni - Outreach Foundation 

Third Prize: Kurhula Ndhlovu – SAWC
