Advanced Certificate in Nature Conservation: Transfrontier Conservation Management
Enthusiastic Field Ranger with a desire to build on his career as a defender of wildlife in South Africa.
“Graduating from the Southern African Wildlife College will bring me closer to my goal of one day managing the reserve I work in. The knowledge and skills I gain on campus make me a thousand times better at my job.”
Asina has grown quickly in his career as a Field Ranger and he now has five years’ experience under his belt at only 32 years old. He has already graduated with a National Certificate in Nature Conservation from the Southern African Wildlife College and is now working towards his Diploma by enrolling in the Advanced Certificate course.
His employment at Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency for the past seven years is a testament to his dedication and loyalty to the role and the organisation. In service at Dwesa Cwebe Nature Reserve, Asina’s job involves data monitoring and collection, boundary patrol, and law enforcement in the field of anti-poaching, ultimately playing a crucial role in protecting wildlife and promoting conservation in this unique part of the country.
His goal is to grow his understanding of conservation as a whole and how it relates to the management of challenges specific to his environment, such as veld fires. Asina would like to take his practical and theoretical training to his community, where he hopes to teach environmentalism through workshops.
