Vusi Mthethwa

Higher Certificate in Nature Conservation from the Kruger National Park

Self-motivated and pursuing greater achievements in his career.

“I believe that that being enrolled at the Southern African Wildlife College will give me the skills, knowledge, and training I needs to grow my career in as a Field Guide into a conservation management position.”

Vusi is a senior Field Guide in the Kruger National Park, based at Olifants Rest Camp, which is one of the busiest tourism hubs in the country. Growing up in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, the Kruger National Park was on Vusi’s doorstep and he was inspired to start his career in wildlife tourism. Through hard work and determination to receive the training he needed to become a guide, he began work in the nearby Karongwe Private Game Reserve where he spent five years. Since then, Vusi found employment at SANParks where he now occupies a position as a senior field guide, reflecting the growth he has achieved in his career.

Vusi requires support towards the R75 000 needed for his bursary. This is an amount that he does not have access to personally, which is why the SAWC as a non-profit organisation is calling upon a network of donors and supporters to help raise these funds. By donating any amount, large or small, you are playing a crucial role in helping Vusi receive the best possible training for his career in conservation.
