Advanced Certificate in Nature Conservation: Transfrontier Conservation Management
A Wildlife Police Officer with 13 years of anti-poaching experience in the bank and the determination to reach a managerial position in a national park in Zambia.
“One day I’d like to manage one of Zambia’s national parks and utilise my training to change the way my community thinks about the value of wildlife.”
Cynthia took an early opportunity to train and gain experience with the Zambian Wildlife Authority after graduating high school and has now worked in the field for more than a decade. She ensures the effective implementation of anti-poaching operations in Lochinvar National Park and helps to address the conservation challenges in her local community.
Cynthia previously graduated with a National Certificate in Nature Conservation from the Southern African Wildlife College and is now enrolled in the Advanced Certificate course. Upon completion of this course, she feels that she will be better equipped to mitigate human-wildlife-conflict and deforestation and use her knowledge and practical experience to engage her community in conservation.
Cynthia requires support towards the R75 000 needed for her bursary. This is an amount that she does not have access to personally, which is why the SAWC as a non-profit organisation is calling upon a network of donors and supporters to help raise these funds. By donating any amount, large or small, you are playing a crucial role in helping Cynthia receive the best possible training for her career in conservation.
