The policies on ownership of wildlife in South Africa differs vastly from many other African countries and other and countries in other continents, in that South Africans are allowed to have ownership of all wildlife occurring on their owned land. Over the years this has created huge income generation for the country while at the same time contributed to the conservation of many species. During 2016 this industry has generated R1.5 bil in hunting alone, and a further R1 bil in game sales. It is said that there are more wildlife today in South Africa than there have ever been in history.
