The challenges of managing Southern Africa’s elephant populations

Conservation of the remaining mega herbivores of our time is a challenge for many reasons. The African Elephant requires large areas to survive and they are a highly fertile species.   With only islands of natural habitat remaining throughout Africa, managing elephant population numbers is of vital importance for wherever they occur if we are to conserve the biodiversity in these areas.  Dr. Kevin Robertson give some insights to the dilemma South Africa’s Kruger National is facing with regard to its ever growing Elephant population.

This class is approximately +-1,5 hours in duration on our main campus and given by Dr. Kevin Robertson.
