Dear friends and supporters of the Southern African Wildlife College,

As the natural world faces crisis after crisis, it’s never been more important to ensure that we as its custodians are working even harder to achieve a nature-positive world. In support of this, the Southern African Wildlife College’s mission is to equip men and women from across Africa and beyond with the necessary knowledge, leadership ability and applied skills to conserve and protect Africa’s natural resources and biodiversity in viable, inclusive and economically successful ways.

Every member of our dedicated team works to deliver on this mission. Today, we’re proudly sharing our annual review with you to highlight and illustrate our commitment as one of the region’s leading applied learning conservation education and training institutions, to high-impact, holistic learning.

The review draws on all our departments’ work, as well as on our students’ learning experiences and successes. It also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the past year whilst being faced with current challenges, especially those presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. As we continue to work towards ensuring our sustainability and delivery of our needs-based conservation education and training programmes, we realize just how far we have come.

There is no doubt that the 2019 year required both resolve and tenacity, and now even more so in 2020. A big thank-you to everyone for their continued support especially that of my staff. I would however also like to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to our donors, partners and supporters. It’s due to their generous support that we have so much to report on as we bring our vision – to inspire every person we train and engage with to conserve our natural world – to life.

Thank-you for supporting this vision, and being part of our story.
