Following the resignation of Altin Gysman to continue his career in the South African Military Service, the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Hancock to head up its Protected Area Integrity Department

Having grown up between Giyani and Manyeleti Game Reserve, Jeremy is not new to the area but more importantly he comes to the College after spending 14 years in conservation law enforcement training and management across Africa.

After a five-year military enlistment, Jeremy began his field ranger training career with Conservation Outcomes where he was a Basic and Advanced Ranger training instructor for Francophone and Anglophone areas.

He then joined the African Parks Network where he worked as the Training Manager, Medical Manager, and Head of Law Enforcement centrally as well as at park level in the WAP complex (W-Arly-Pendjari) in Benin as Security Advisor and in Bangweulu Wetlands, Zambia as Law Enforcement Mentor.

As such, Jeremy has a comprehensive and sound track record in ranger training and conservation law enforcement capability development. In addition he is a South African registered Advanced Life Support practitioner and has a Btech degree from the University of Johannesburg. He is fluent in English, Afrikaans and French, having completed a two-year study programme in French Language Studies.

The College welcomes Jeremy on board and looks forward to him taking the department to new heights.
